Artisan Varnishing and Finishing of Furniture

Just as with raw production, the various stages of varnishing and finishing are also carried out manually, using varnishes and waxes that enhance the aesthetic characteristics of the fine woods used in our furnishings.

It is experience that guides the artisan's hand; one does not become a polisher overnight. The various stages leading to the creation of the finished piece are all crucial: antiquing, sanding, staining and the various stages of the varnishingAt the client's discretion, our furniture can be polished with a more or less antiqued finish; the shade can vary from a very light, almost natural walnut to a very dark walnut, with a variety of intermediate colors. It is also possible to finish a piece of furniture by matching a sample drawer, door, or shelf, reproducing the color on one of our items with good results, although an exact reproduction cannot always be guaranteed.
The lacquering can be more or less glossy or matte, with a wax finish based on beeswax. For certain items, the finish is available in shellac.

Below you can see some examples of available finishes and colorations. Click on the images to enlarge them.

Heavily Antiqued and Hand-Planed

A degree of antiquing similar to the previous, with the addition of a hand-planed effect: smooth boards are hand-planed to achieve a rustic, heavily antiqued aesthetic. Planing marks are visible in some antique furniture pieces (typically on backs, bottoms, and unseen parts) from when boards were dressed by hand.
