The production of furnishings can be traced back at least to the 16th century. During the 18th century, Bassano furniture achieved a high degree of appreciation, captivating the taste of local nobility to the extent that it became the furnishing of the territory's most important villas.
It was from the late nineteenth century that the reproduction of antique-style furniture began, undertaken by a small group of master artisans who passed on their art and technique in their workshops.
In the second half of the last century, Bassano's furniture industry experienced significant development, and today comprises hundreds of active enterprises in the realm of classic and modern furnishings, providing employment to thousands of skilled professionals.

In the Bassano furniture art district (the district includes not only the city of the 'Alpini' but also neighboring municipalities, such as Rosà) countless small and micro artisan businesses revolve around the world of furniture: furniture manufacturers, carpentry workshops, polishing services, lacquering services, upholsterers, artistic glassworks, carvers and turners, hardware suppliers for furniture manufacturers... businesses sometimes specializing in a particular niche production, coexisting alongside internationally renowned companies and brands.
